Club Neon Blog: 2002-7-2
Not much happening. Still haven't finished the script for this page, and I've broken my news page in the mean time by tuning the CSS for here, thus de-tuning the other page that has the same layout, but different classes.
Oh, my webdesign page is back up, at a slightly different address: ftl.clubneon.com. This should be pretty perminate, it is now coloed at my work, so I've got plenty of power, bandwidth, and cold air, all the things a computer can desire.
I've been messing around with the Freenet Project a little bit. Basicly it is a totally anonymous layer on top of the Internet. It allows people in less-than-free countries (that includes the US) to distribute and receive files without anyone knowing who published the file, or who is looking at it. Rather powerful idea. So in the true form of the Internet, this data store is filled with pr0n and MP3s. Oh well.
I would like to run a more perminate Freenet node on my Alpha, but Freenet is compiled to Java bytecode, and I'm having a bit of trouble getting a Java Virtual Machine for my Alpha. Compaq ported one, but only released it as an RPM. I'm not running an RPM based distro. I would use Alien to convert the file, but you need the RPM tools installed, which need all sorts of other things. I've also considered building the JVM from source, but for some odd reason you need a already running install of the Java Developer's Kit to build the JDK. That just doesn't make sense.
I'll close with, "Shake zula, the mic rula, the old skoola, you want a drink, I'll bring it to ya."
